Overview

This highly practical applied course is designed to meet the unique requirements of teachers working in health professional contexts. It is aimed at a broad cross-section of the health professions including medicine, nursing, psychology, paramedic studies, pharmacy, dietetics, physiotherapy, radiography, occupational therapy and speech pathology.

The course enables you to develop your teaching and supervision skills in both clinical and non-clinical environments, your course development techniques and expand your working knowledge of educational theory to underpin future practice.

You will be expected to explore and evaluate educational methods as well as teaching and assessment practices and principles. You will also be introduced to the principles of evidence-based educational practice.

Career opportunities

If you teach in a medical or health care setting and would like to improve your teaching, supervision and course development skills, the Graduate Certificate in Health Professional Education is for you. The course design is practically orientated and will assist you to apply theory and best evidence to you own unique educational role.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

1. have a Bachelor Degree from any health related or education profession or have other qualifications and/or experience that the Faculty deems equivalent, and

2. be currently engaged, or will become engaged, in teaching or educational development in or of the health related disciplines.

English requirements

Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.
